Hello everyone!
Our names are Joshua Aaron Pillow and Sarah Maria Taylor (soon to be Sarah Maria Pillow).
We have been together since October 29, 2012 and are getting married July 12, 2014.
Josh is from Daytona Beach, FL and I am from Tampa, FL. If you are familiar with those areas, then more specifically: Josh is from Holly Hill, FL and I am from Land O' Lakes, FL.
We met on October 12, 2012 at a Halloween Dance in Orlando. You could say we "met in the middle" (of the state, that is), and have continued to make compromises with each other ever since.
I was dressed as Artemis, a Greek Goddess, and Joshua was dressed as Marty Friedman .
We danced a few dances together (including the coveted last dance of the night) and then I left before Josh could get my number. Naturally, Josh decides to seek me out and goes through Facebook groups and events we would have in common to add me as a friend. Then we started talking on Facebook for a while until Josh pulls a card out of his sleeve and states, "I've got to go to Family Home Evening with my YSA group and there is no internet service out there. We can still talk through text though, if you want." And proceeds to give me his telephone number to text him while he's at FHE. Smooth, right?
Facebook, Skype, and telephone calls were the ways in which we dated for the majority of our relationship. Once a month, I would travel to Holly Hill to see him and we would hang out all weekend with me staying at his parents' home while he stayed where he was living at those points in time. It worked great and then I moved to New Mexico to live with my family (who moved out there in August of 2012) for a while. I lived there from the end of May 2013 until the beginning January 2014 (about 7 months) and Josh and I talked on the phone every night since it was rare for both of us to have Skype capabilities and be awake at the same time (2 hour time difference).
Finally, we decided that we needed to be together because our long distance was not the ideal relationship. We enrolled at Brigham Young University-Idaho and started to date (in real life) regularly since January 2014. Joshua is currently a Pre-Med student majoring in Neurobiology and I am majoring in Early Childhood/Special Education.
On March 3, 2014, Josh asked me to marry him in the simplest, sweetest way. We were doing homework together. I was finishing up some assignment for my class while Josh was getting impatient. I didn't think much of it at the time. Then I finished and put my computer away to sit with him and give him the attention I could tell he was waiting for. So, we're sitting cross legged on the floor in the living room of his apartment, knee to knee. Josh says to me, "I love you." I say, "I love you more," and he comes back with, "Prove it."
Now I did not know what he expected me to do, so I gave him a puzzled look and he then saved me by saying, "Close your eyes." I did and as I hear him moving around, I'm thinking he's going to give me a good kiss and hold me close. So, when he says, "Open them," I was not expecting to see a box in his hand. He then asks upon my viewing of the ring, "Will you marry me?" To which I wholeheartedly respond, "YES!"
Those are the highlights of our relationship, a very good relationship indeed. We are now working on getting sealed/married in the Rexburg LDS temple on June 28. It has been an exciting road so far and I'm sure there are more adventures for us throughout our time as a couple.
This blog will be about our lives as a couple and as a family in the future. This will be where you can read about our lives and get all the updates you want! Both Josh and I are editors on this blog and we are excited to share our lives with you and we hope you enjoy our updates. Thanks!
-Sarah
